Playa Los Patos is in the Barahona area. It is a quiet, small town with a bar, pool hall and colmado. What draws people to the area is the fresh water river that runs into the ocean. The river has surpassed the oceanside in popularity. The locals swim and bathe here, as well as use it as a campground.
Los Patos has a waterfall in the area and the beach is good for seashells. It is situated along the coastal highway with informal restaurants lining the waters edge. They serve seafood meals for about RD $200.
