Changes in Hotel Industry

dr1: The Colonial City's iconic 104-room Hostal Nicolas de Ovando has been rebranded as Hodelpa Nicolas de Ovando and is now managed by Hodelpa Hotels. The hotel was previously operated as an MGallery hotel by AccorHotels, a French chain.

Hodelpa Hotels, the Santo Domingo-based hotel chain, has been operating another property in the Colonial City, the 54-room Hodelpa Caribe Colonial on Calle Isabel la Catolica.

Located on Calle Las Damas, the Nicolas de Ovando overlooks the Ozama River and is located in the historic palace of the first governor of the city of Santo Domingo in colonial times.

Hodelpa will also be operating the Mercure Hotel on Calle El Conde and the closed Hotel Frances, the 16th century hotel that suffered major damage during excavations as part of the Colonial City restoration program, as reported in Infotur Dominicano.

Hodelpa has three hotels in Santiago (Gran Almirante, Garden Court and Centro Plaza) and two in Juan Dolio (Garden Suites and Emotions).

Progress or Impediment?
