Boca Chica is located on the southern coast of the Dominican Republic. It is the place to be when you want to combine beach time and touring Santo Domingo in one trip. Once the retreat for wealthy families of Santo Domingo, its popularity grew during the 1990's when public transportation made it more accessible. The area is close to the airport and only about a 25-minute drive from the capitol. It is now the most inhabited beach in the country with something for everyone.
There are a plethora of vendors, for food and souvenirs. Activities abound for the active traveler or you can simply lie on the white sand beach to relax or to people watch.
There are hotels of all price ranges. The all-inclusive types are great for first-timers and for convenience. Visit THIS SITE and read travelers reviews. They may be helpful when deciding where to stay. Notice most all smaller hotels allow you to have guests. Something to consider when planning your trip.

You left out the part of the inflated prices, the constant barrage of prostitutes offering services, the begging for money, the vendors constantly trying to sell something, the thievery, the dirty water and the overcrowding. Boca Chica, NEVER!!
I've found Boca to be always an interesting beach to visit BECAUSE of the activity, in all its forms. The beach itself is expansive so you simply may need to find a better spot to anchor down.
Also, if you go during the week you don't get near as much of the things you complained about, just avoid the weekends if you don't want the crowd, especially Sundays.
The truth is Boca Chica sucks! The first poster is right about everything and more. You should forget Boca Chica and drive down a bit further to Guayacanes and Juan Dolio to find great beaches, restaurants, and relaxation!
Recent reports have said that there has been a rash of robberies, attacks and murders along the highway between Guayacanes and Juan Dolio. The perpetrators are targeting vacationers. People are warned not to travel alone and try to avoid night travel in the area, even in a resort shuttle.
So, it is either stay home or stay alive and visit dirty Boca. LOL I'd prefer to take my chances on finding my usual clean spot at Boca. Though the Juan Dolio area is beautiful.
