Okay, so there are two pics for today. I'm sure you guys don't mind. LOL Will the Americans ever catch up to foreign television? We are one of the very few societies where nudity is frowned upon. Most people accept it as natural, some celebrate it. Missionaries have been trying to clothe Africans for years, but their laidback attitudes regarding their bodies continue to hold.

The Nuba are a proud and creative people. They love celebrations and have many of them. As you can see, at the time of this photo they had not been "Westernized" and continued to enjoy their own culture and way of life. As I am NOT someone who considers "roughing it" a fun activity, or "living off the land" something I would enjoy, I simply hold to my fantasies of spending time encamped with the Nuba.

We had trekked well into the interior of the bushland, the guide and I, before he stopped and told me that he was to go no further. I was to take the remainder of the journey, about a kilometer, without him. He pointed me in the right direction, then bid me farewell.

For the young prince had summoned me and me alone. I had spent two years serving as interpreter between he and the American diplomat. We were trying to form an alliance with the tribe in order to drill for oil on tribal land. He had often commented that I had their tribal features and even seemed to have their best interest at heart. Now, he had sent word that I was to meet him for an "initiation," a sort of honorary membership into the tribe.

My heart pounded heavily and my palms were moist and clammy, as my mind played images of similar rituals I had seen in movies or on television. I wondered what horrid acts I might have to endure. It became abundantly clear, as I walked out of the bush and saw the future chieftain as he waited for me at the foot of the mountain.

I recently did a post about the sex trade in Boca Chica and the term "Sanky Panky." There is now a movie debuting in the Dominican Republic by the same name. dr1.com reports the following: The long-awaited comedy "Sanky Panky" premieres in Dominican theaters tonight. The movie stars Fausto Mata (Boca de Piano), Tony Pascual (Pachuli) and Cassandra Award winner Aquiles Correa in a comedy based around the male sex workers known as Sankie Pankies in the DR. Jose Enrique Pintor is the executive producer of this RD$10 million movie.
