Captured!

from the Jamaica Gleaner:
Sporting an old-fashioned afro wig, black hat and a dated pair of round-rimmed glasses, Christopher "Dudus" Coke, alleged notorious drug lord and gangster, looked nothing like royalty or feared gang leader when he was captured by the police on last Tuesday.

At the time of his capture he was riding in the company of popular pastor Al Miller, who is well known for handing over persons wanted by the police. He was also in one of his many disguises that helped him elude authorities for so long.

Coke is currently on remand in a federal state facility in New York after pleading not guilty to drug and gun-trafficking charges on Friday. He is kept in solitary confinement for 23 hours a day. If convicted Coke faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

Retire On Social Security?

US News & World Report:

One of the most compelling reasons to consider retiring to another country is the opportunity to reduce your cost of living, maybe dramatically.

The average Social Security check is about $1200US. You can receive that payment while living anywhere in the world. In some countries you can even have your check direct-deposited into your local bank account there. Here are a few of the Top Five places.

Boquete, Panama because Panama offers user-friendly options for foreign residency. Resident retirees receive a long list of benefits including discounts on everything from prescription medicines and in-country air travel to closing costs on the purchase of real estate.

Granada, Nicaragua is a charming Spanish-colonial city built around a beautiful and lively central square. It's also home to a welcoming community of expat retirees enjoying new lives in this land of lakes and volcanoes. You could live well in Granada for about $900 per month.

In Cuenca, Ecuador the average Social Security check ($1200) could also buy you a pleasant new life. The city has an established community of expats who will welcome you and help you with your transition. The other big plus for Cuenca is its climate. Ecuador is a land of eternal springtime, never too hot and never too cold.

Just Rude

Most websites who feature latin/afro-latin models have guys from throughout the caribbean. However, RudeJam chose to only feature models from Jamaica. No complaints here! These pics are some of the most recent sent to me by Rue. He never got to include the models on the site.

SORROW FOR JAMAICA

I have been keeping abreast of the latest news out of Jamaica regarding the hunt for a man wanted in the US for drug traffficking. His supports have created quite a dilemna for Jamaican officials. This ordeal will surely expose curruption in the constubolary as foreign officials dealve into the matter and seek to answer one question: how has this ONE man escaped capture for so long and been able to build up such a well-armed militia? These events are already having an adverse effect on tourism in that country.

I am saddened to have found out the other day that the founder of Rudejam was murdered in his home in November. Apparently, one of his employees is the culprit, but the police are not investigating because it is looked at as maby gay. He was certainly a kind and talented person. He was quite humorous as well. I helped him choose lodging and offered other suggestions when he would travel to the Dominican Republic for vacation. A tragic loss.
