SAN MIGUEL Y MAS
If you're like me, you don't like to spend money on a vacation only to find out that shops and other places are closed due to some local holiday. If you're planning a trip to the D.R. you may want to check out this link that has the complete list of remaining holidays for this year and for 2007.
And if you should encounter my friend Narciso be sure to give him an "hola" from me. If you're lucky you'll be able to take a trip out to his home in San Miguel. He's quite the host! He arranges visits to the area rivers and you get to meet some of the locals.

FOR ADVENTURE LOVERS
There has been much talk about alternatives to Santo Domingo. I don't know about you, but I'd rather visit different places on the island before jumping ship. The country has so much to offer other than the capitol city.
Which brings me to Bonao. It's located northwest of Santo Domingo in the central mountains. Being just over an hour from Las Americas airport it could be a day trip or an overnight adventure. If you're an outdoors person you will not be disappointed with the mountain vistas, the beautiful waterfalls and rivers and the quaint little villages in the area. Also, Bonao now has the second largest Carnaval celebration in the country.
If you want to stay a night or two, you should check out www.ranchowendy.com for accomodations and activities: hiking, horseback riding, exploring caves, barbeques, etc. The discriminating traveler will appreciate the private baths and free internet.

FRIDAY FANTASY 10
Gabriel has been one of my favorite pieces of eye candy for quite awhile. As Bahian Heat comes to a close I wanted to post another Brazilian. In this clip he's talking about his physique and his first tatoo. He can be seen in several installments of the Capoiera series by Black and Tan Video. He's quite talented!
